1:1 tutoring (for up to 20 pupils per academic year)

We provide 1:1 tutoring for primary school children during term time on Mondays to Friday between 3.30pm and 7pm for pupils in the Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas. Sessions are provided either weekly or fortnightly, and can be either 45 minutes or 1 hour long. Sessions can also be provided during holidays and can be arranged informally between the tutor and family.

Tutoring is tailored to the individual pupil and planned to suit the particular pupil’s needs using resources we have gathered over many years, but we are frequently creating new resources to use too. We appreciate that not all children learn in the same way and are always adapting the way we teach. Homework, when requested, will be set to support learning done in the session. The majority of our pupils are aged between 7 and 11.

Current pupils tutored this year receive support for:

  • 11+ preparation. We provide comprehensive teaching and coverage of the Kent Test curriculum including: introduction to the different verbal and non-verbal/spatial elements of the test; consolidation/extension of the English and Maths curriculum to meet the content of the Test; exposure to and the opportunity to practise different question types and past papers; and invaluable time management and exam technique
  • SATs preparation. We can offer tuition to support pupils for English Reading, Maths (Arithmetic and Reasoning) and GaPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling papers) SATs papers.
  • General Maths and/or Literacy support. Depending on a child’s individual needs, we can tailor our tutoring to look at specific areas within the Maths and English curriculums.

We also work with children that are partly home-schooled and we can support children with a specific educational need/EHCP.

Availability for 1:1 tutoring is as follows:
